Ms. Annie Bell Nix, 85, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at South Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Homegoing Celebration will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the Union Memorial Cemetery, 1100 South McKinley Street, Albany, Georgia 31701. Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Annie Bell Nix was born on July 5, 1935, in Calhoun County, GA, to the late Mansfield Nix and Hattie Montgomery (Lanier). She departed this earthly place to gain her wings on April 13, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA.

She gave her life to Christ an early age. She was a member of the New Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member until her health failed. She was employed at Bob’s Candies for many years and also at Ayers Cooperation until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Lanier; one sister, Lula Bell Wallace of Harrisburg, PA; and stepfather, Rev. John Lanier.

She gave birth to six children, one of whom preceded her in death, James Charles Nix. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ozell Allen of Harrisburg, PA, and one great-grandchild, Karon S. Grier. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Kathy (David) Stokes of Albany, GA; four sons, Willie (Ellen) Nix of Harrisburg, PA, Clifford (Betty) Nix of Lakeland, GA, Joseph Nix of Pittsview, AL, and Edward (Doretha) Nix of Albany, GA; one half-brother, Harvey (Aldene) Lanier of Albany, GA; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

    Ms. Annie Nix was one of my passengers of Albany Transit. I had the pleasure of meeting such a Beautiful and kind person. My heartfelt condolences are with her family during this difficult time. Take your rest with the Lord Ms. Nix.
