Catherine Mildred Shepherd, daughter of the late Raymond T. Amos and Esther Coleman, was born on July 9, 1935, and transitioned to Glory on February 10, 2021. She was born and raised in Camden, NJ, where she attended public school and graduated from Camden High School. As a youth, she attended Kaighn Ave. Baptist Church, where she was baptized and was a faithful member.

Catherine worked for the Federal Government for a number of years before pursuing her education at Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where she graduated in 1976, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Her dedication to the medical profession led her to further her education by attending the University of Mississippi, where she received a Master’s degree in Midwifery. She joined the flourishing medical firm, Adams & Woods M.D., P.C., as the first Certified Nurse Midwife in Albany, GA, where she worked for numerous years until retirement.

Catherine married George L. Parker, and from that union were born Karen L. Parker and George L. Parker, Jr. Catherine later married Eric D. Shepherd and blended their family, which included Doreen, Eric Jr., Creyton, Ronara, Michael, Scott, and Derek, who lovingly called her, “Ms. Pat”.

Catherine and Eric relocated from New Jersey to Albany, GA, in 1976, and became active members of International Baptist Church, where they worshipped for 15 years. She later joined Greater Second Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and active member.

Catherine was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She was not a person to mince words. She always said what she meant and meant what she said. She was a graceful host who loved to cook, pamper, and entertain family and friends. Her home was affectionately known as “The Shepherd Resort”.

She leaves to cherish: her children, Karen Mapp (Randy) (Fayetteville, GA), George Parker (Pat) (Sicklerville, NJ), Doreen Thomas (Philadelphia, PA), Eric Shepherd, Jr., and Creyton Shepherd (Atlantic City, NJ), Ronara Mahan (Carlos), (Camden, NJ), Michael Shepherd (Darlene) (Pennsauken, NJ), Scott Shepherd (Camden, NJ), and Derek Shepherd (Sonya) (Los Angeles, CA); seven nephews and seven nieces; godchild, Anthony Davis; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Eric, two sisters, and one brother.

Mrs.(MomMom)Pat, I didn't think I'd be saying this so soon after Grandpop but here we are😢 You were a strong, genuine, humble, inspiring and positive woman. I'll always remember our little outing and when we went to the nail salon. You thought I'd let you wait in the car for me and was elated when I told you to come get pampered too-my treat. You smiled and thanked me, but asked if I was sure quite a few times (just your naturally caring nature). I told you just a small token to show my gratitude for how well you took care of Grandpop and your great hospitality. I knew you were the one so used to giving. I looked forward to our next outing and just the mere pleasure of being in your presence. You were wise, down to earth and fun. I know when you reached the golden gates, God said, "Job Well Done!" It's unfortunate for us that you had to go, but know you're where there's no more pain. To George, Karen and fam, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you with the strength to make it through this difficult time 🙏 Sending lots of love, hugs and blessings💞.

Mrs. Shepherd was a beautiful blessed anointed woman of God. She was not just my former boss, but she was my good friend. She will truly be missed. I have nothing but good things to say about Mrs. Shepherd. She saw the best in me.She will forever be in my heart. I will certainly miss our long talks on the phone, at Publix, Wal-Mart etc. She kept me laughing. She was such a phenomenal woman with a heart of gold. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. We know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I had the privilege of working with Mrs. Catherine Shepherd at the best medical office in the world, Adams &Woods, MD, PC for 26± years. We were one big happy family, and we truly miss Mrs. Catherine Shepherd,CNM. Praying God blessing upon the family, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and mind. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116::15. "To God Be The Glory."
