Gerald (Gerry) Blackshear was born September 29, 1955 to the loving and proud parents, Henry (Hank) and Rachel Blackshear in Brooklyn, New York.

Gerald grew up in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. He attended school in New York City.

Gerald was baptized as one of Jehovah Witness in New York City On February 23, 1974. He always enjoyed going to meetings assembles and convention of Jehovah Witness with family and many friends. He was always punctual at meetings, so as to greet all the friends with his hearty laugh and firm handshake. His kindness will always be remembered by his many friends and mostly by our father Jehovah. Gerald never forgot anyone name and made sure you know it. Even thought most of the time Gerald experienced constant pain, which was never detected because he was always happy and smiling, never complaining but wanted to make sure everyone was okay.

He enjoyed working in the ministry with various friends in the Fort Greene congregation of Jehovah Witness in Brooklyn, New York. But he was firm as to when it was time for him to stop for the day, still loving though.

His parents, his sister, and Gerald moved to Leesburg, Georgia. He continued to enjoy the ministry with family and friends in the south including friends in the Fitzgerald congregation.

Well after being in Fitzgerald for a while, his pain got the best of Gerald and he gone up and fell asleep in death on February 2, 2021 with the hope of the resurrection soon to come. We want to not forget Gerald. Dear mother (Rachel Blackshear and his sister, Julia Blackshear who both preceded him in death all loved forward to fulfillment of Revelation 21:3- 5.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Gerald. I was in the West Congregation fro 1995-2003 and had the pleasure of meeting Gerald while visiting the Leesburg congregation. I look forward to seeing Gerald happy and healthy in the New World. I look forward to the fulfillment of Isaiah 25:8a He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. Regards, Cynthia Ragsdale
