Mrs. Sheila Nixon Harris, 68, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Georgia. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, 2605 Sylvester Road, Albany, Georgia. Mrs. Sheila Harris, daughter of the late Jessie and Mary
Paisley Nixon was born October 21, 1952 in Albany,
Georgia. She attended the public schools of Dougherty
County and was a graduate of Dougherty
Comprehensive High School. At an early age she
professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. Paul
Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member. At
St. Paul, she served faithfully as a Nurse’s Aide.
Shelia had a loving personality and was admired for her
giving nature. She was a breast cancer survivor and
had an undeniable dedication to her children,
grandchildren, great grandchildren
, and siblings. As a
result of her generous spirit and gentle personality, she
was loved by many. Sheila was a firm believer in the art
of “having class,” and had a way of making people
laugh and feel comfortable. She was known for the
upkeep of her hair and spending time with her siblings.
Later in life, she enjoyed traveling and gaining new
experiences.
She quietly departed this life Tuesday, December 29,
2020 at Phoebe Putney Memoria
l Hospital in Albany,
Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother,
Mary Paisley Nixon, father, Jessie Nixon
, Jr., her
brother Alexander Hope
, and her daughter, Rhonda
Kay Anderson.
Her beautiful life will be cherished forever in the lives of
her husband, Richard Harris
, Jr.; her son
, Walter M.
Anderson (Nitasha); her sisters, Aljean Nixon, Beverly
Hunt, Jessica Nixon; her brothers
, Ricky Nixon
(Deloise), Kelvin Nixon, Rodney Nixon (Caroline), Mark
Nixon (Breanna); her grandchildren, Shelita Anderson,
Leander Teemer, Aaliyah Cosby and Isaiah Anderson;
four great grandchildren, Bryce Anderson, Bryton
Anderson, Kylie Teemer and Ayden Teemer and a host
of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and
neighbors whom all loved her dearly.
