Mrs. Sylvia Nelson, 72, of Albany, Georgia departed this life Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at her residence. Graveside services were held Monday, July 20, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery, 120 Old Pretoria Road in Albany, Georgia. Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sylvia Jordan Nelson was born in Newark, New Jersey on December 6, 1947. She was the daughter of the late John and Genevea Rivers Jordan.

Mrs. Nelson was educated in the Dougherty County School System attending Monroe High School. She attended Albany Technical College where she received her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She was employed with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for over thirty years where she lated retired.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Testament Baptist Church. She later joined Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Richard Nelson on December 17 1965.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories a loving husband, Richard Nelson; two children, Ricky (Maria) Nelson and Kwajalein Nelson; five sisters, Theresa (Roosevelt) Hodge, Darian (Roy) Snead, Antoinette Henderson, Donna Atchison, all of Albany, GA, Wanda (Joseph) Moore, Columbia, SC; one brother, Thomas (Melody) Jordan, Jonesboro, GA; one aunt, Addie Rivers, Albany, GA; one uncle, Robert (Tiny) Rivers, Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Claudette Green, Joann Nelson, Linda Robinson, all of Albany, GA; brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Mary) Nelson, Sammy Lee Nelson, Albany, GA, Willie (Anna) Nelson, California; two grandchildren, Jahnae and Alan Nelson; last but not least her precious loving dogs, Jack and Kane and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

    SYLVIA WAS A AWESOME NURSE WHEN I FIRST STARTING WORK AT PHOEBE SHE TOOK ME UNDER HER WING. SHE WAS TO FUNNY TOLD ME NOT TO TAKE THE JOB HOME WITH ME. OVER THE YEARS WHEN I WOULD SEE HER OUT AND ABOUT SHE ALWAYS HAD THAT SMILE PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY
