MS. REGINA TAYLOR MCCLENDON

Regina Taylor McClendon, AKA “RYE” daughter of the late William Taylor and Ola Mae Gatewood Taylor was born March 2, 1958 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Regina was a devoted member of Poplar Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served over the Kitchen Committee.  She had a smile that would express the love she had for you.  Family gatherings were very important to her.  She loved her family very much.

Regina was preceded in death by her father, William Taylor; baby brother, Reginald Taylor; sister, Sandra Miller; brother-in-law, Johnny Miller; and niece, Shameka Bittle.

Regina leaves to forever cherish her memories: her mother, Ola Mae Gatewood Taylor of Marshville, NC; one daughter, Tammy Bittle (Jerry) and one son, Jorey Taylor (Sharnise) both of Marshville, NC.  Twelve grandchildren, Lauren McLendon, TaKyra Johnson, Emmanuel Harris, Tania Taylor, Tyquan Taylor, Jaylin Bittle, Jorey Taylor, Journey Taylor, Taylor Bittle, Jada Taylor, Malayahia Taylor, and Kayden Taylor.  Her siblings, James Otis Taylor of Wingate, NC, Mitchell Taylor (Edna) of Camden, SC, Donald Taylor of Wingate, NC, Beverly Taylor (Jeremiah) and Kim Smith (Rev. Eddie) both of Marshville, NC.  Two aunts, Juanita Crawford (Jimmy) of Charlotte, NC and Mildred Staton of Marshville, NC.  One uncle, Huey Gatewood of Marshville, NC.

Regina also leaves behind her loving god sisters, Caretha Barrino, Minnie Clyburn, Deborah Sue Crowder, Debbie Tillman, Linda Stuart, Ryan Leak, Annette Tyson (Tony), Inez Rorie (Turtle), Karen Griffin and Phyllis Bowman.  A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.


Graveside services will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, 12:00 noon, Poplar Hill Baptist Church, Polkton, North Carolina in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines.  The family visitation will be from 11:45am-12:00pm.


Smith's Funeral Home request that you wear your mask when entering the funeral home for the safety of the Taylor & McClendon family, the public and our staff.  Thank you for your cooperation.

I met her many years ago she was a sweet person who showed you she really care for you while at Poplar Hill I always looked for her but through sickness a lot of times she she couldn't make it but she still loved the Lord.Precious memories how they linger,I will never forget
