Dorothy Mae Jimmerson left this earthly realm on April 25, 2020, after a long battle with Type 1 Diabetes complicated by COVID-19. She was 71 years old.

It would be wrong to say that Dorothy lost her battle, because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Dorothy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Dorothy. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.

Dorothy is survived by her loving Mother, Addie Bee Kendrick- Hightower, Her four children, Tommy (Mekeisha) Ricky (Rekha), Tyrome and Dwayne, Her Grandchildren and (Great grandchildren), Jerome, Jeremy, Shakya, Rishad (Royce & Rose), Jalil, Keya, Ronin, Eddie, and Jasmine. In my heart, you were gonna live forever and I was coming down to GA to see you. However, God had greater plans for you. He saw how you were a good & faithful servant and he said come home my love, job well done. I will love you eternally because you loved me unconditionally. Thank you for showing me so much love, teaching me so much and being the best Grandmother & mother-in-law (former) I could have EVER ASKED from God. As we caught up on the phone these past years, you always conveyed your love for me & my children. I admired how you helped your mother & family and you always helped your community. You would give your last because that was what was in your heart. Dot, we shared some good ole times laughing and dancing to your old music and we had some wonderful talks as I sat in the kitchen while you cooked (I watched and learned). Eventually my tears will stop because I know you’re in a better place but my love for you will ALWAYS remain. Rest Easy Momma Dot - I love you! My sincerest condolences to your sons and to your family. - Marietta Jimmerson
