Donnetta Jackson Melton, better known to her family and friends as “Doll”, was born to the late Charlie Brack and Maggie Lee Cash Jackson on December 22, 1945 in Anson County.  Her life was spent in Anson County where she attended and graduated from Morven High School in 1964.  After high school, she attended Durham Business College for two years and received an associate degree.  After finishing Durham Business College, she returned to Anson County and worked in textiles for many years before going to Nationwide Recyclers, LLC and retired as a Lab Technician.  After her retirement, Donnetta obtained her CNA license and worked in home health care until she departed this life.

Donnetta was a dedicated member of Ramsey Chapel Holiness Church where she served as a Deacon under the late Bishop Davis and Elder Gaddy.  She later joined Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Church on January 10, 2016 under the leadership of Rev. Eddie Maye.  Donnetta’s love for the Lord and her church was on display in many capacities such as leading the kitchen ministry as president, serving on the board of trustees, becoming a Deaconess and a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and singing as a dedicated member of the choir.  Donnetta was a former of Electa Chapter #525, Order of Eastern Star, PHA.

Donnetta enriched many lives, especially in her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was known to command your attention without even saying a word.  When you talked to her, she had a unique of communicating with her eyes.  Donnetta’s eye had a way of letting you know who she was, and that she was listening to you just as much as she wanted you to listen to her.  It was this gesture that endeared us all to her and will forever remain in our hearts.

On April 9, 2020, her spirit took flight and she became one of God’s heavenly angels.  Donnetta is preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Annie Jackson and Louvenia McCormick; one brother-in-law, Larry Nelson; and a special nephew, Edward Wayne Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Perry Melton; one daughter, Sheila Jackson Teal; her son, Perry Lashaun Melton; one grandson, Brent Little; one granddaughter, Demetrice Teal; and one great-granddaughter, Serenity Little, who she raised.  Donnetta will also be fondly remembered by her four siblings, Garthenia Crowder of Wadesboro, NC, Beulah Pratt of Morven, NC, Irma Nelson and Johnsie Perkins of High Point, NC; two special friends, Eva Ratliff and Candance Hamilton both of Wadesboro, NC; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as cousins, friends and community members.

The Services to celebrate Mrs. Melton's life were held on Thursday, April 16, 2020, 12:30pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Interment was at Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

My family and I extend our deepest sympathy in the loss of Donnetta. She was a "tell it like it is" kind girl and always greeted me with love and kindness. I will always remember the kindness shown on more than one occasion to my family. I believe she was prepared for the day that she end her journey and see HIS face. Her home is now bright in glory. Be encouraged knowing that she is a spirit that has arrived home. Thanking God for every blessing of her family and friends.

To the Jackson-Melton Families, You have my deepest condolences. My acquaintance of Donnetta was through her sister, Annie Ruth, who was my classmate. The enemy, death has again been bestowed upon your family. I am truly sorry. The pain and sorrow must be overwhelming. May I leave a scripture that I hope will bring a measure of comfort to you. "Moreover, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm in every good deed and word." - 2 Thess. 2:16,17
