MR. CHARLIE JAMES RICHARDSON

Charlie James Richardson, the son of the late Charlie D. Richardson and Lorello Brooks Richardson was born on October 23, 1939 in Badin, North Carolina.  He departed this life on April 3, 2020 in Kannapolis, NC and entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Charlie was married to the late Emma Jean Hough of Badin, NC who preceded him in death.  They were married for 50 years.  They were the proud parents of four children; Pamela M. Richardson Brown (Bill) of New London, NC; Charlie J. Richardson Jr. and Sonya T. Richardson; both of who preceded him in death, and Angela D. Richardson of Concord, NC.

Charlie was also the father of Loretta D. Cunningham of Badin, NC and Stephen D. Cunningham of Charlotte, NC.

Charlie attended West Badin High School in Badin, NC.  After leaving school, he became an employee of ALCOA (Aluminum Company of America) and worked as both a potsman and crane operator for 32 years.  He lived in Badin where he was known throughout the community as a kind, caring and considerate person.

After retirement, Charlie could be found most times pursuing his favorite hobby, “Chatting.”  His most likely location or hide out was at “Boggans.”  If he wasn’t there you were certain that he was on the porch at home, or on the porch at his sister’s house at 400 Lee Street, the residence of Doris (Billy Jean) Richardson.  In his retired days, Charlie was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan and Washington Redskins football fan.

Charlie leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories: his daughters, Pamela Brown (Bill), Angela D. Richardson and Loretta Cunningham; his son, Stephen Cunningham; three grandchildren to include a special grandchild, Takeyla Christian; three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Doris Rushing; brother, Frank Richardson; his aunt, Mildred Richardson; his uncle, Walter H. Richardson; along with a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family, and friends.

The Homegoing Services
were held on Saturday, April 11, 2020, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Interment was at Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle, North Carolina.

I visited Mr Charlie several times when he was at Forest Oak Nursing Facility in Albemarle, and we had some very good conversations. He never wanted me to leave. Both of us really enjoyed talking with each other. You have my deepest sympathy and I will really miss Mr. Charlie, but I'm sure he is in a better place because whenever he was hurting, he would always call on Lord Jesus.

My condolences to the Richardson family. Charlie was one of the fellows that I looked up to growing up on Lee Street. As an adult, I was proud to be considered among his friends.
