Mr. Merriel Toomer, 64, departed this life Monday, March 2, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. Funeral services will be attended by immediate family ONLY on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Meadows Funeral Home of Albany, Inc. Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Merriel LaVain Toomer was born in Albany, Georgia on June 19, 1955 to Bishop Emeritus Willie James and Evangelist Mary Wheeler Toomer. He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, Georgia. While he possessed no advanced degrees, Merriel was naturally inclined towards communication, understanding,interpretation, translation, and intelligence. Before becoming disabled, he worked as a disc jockey and performed mortuary services in Albany, Georgia. He also did construction work in Los Angels, Calfornia. On Monday, March 2, 2020, Merriel departed this earthly life in Los Angeles, Calfornia. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wheeler Toomer; his grandmother, Eula Mathis; his niece, Natasha. Merriel leaves to cherish his memories three children, Carlos (Joy) Toomer, Cedric (Laquana) Stanley, Sr., and Brenda Toomer Williams, all of Albany, GA; his father, Bishop Emeritus Willie J. Toomer, Albany, GA; three brothers, Willie J. Toomer, Jr., Atlanta, GA, Daryll (Cephia) Toomer, Virginia, and Albert Toomer, Los Angeles, CA; five sisters, Lovetta Toomer, Valerie Toomer, Patricia Toomer Vicks, and Olivia Toomer, all of Albany, GA, Joyce (Franklin, Sr.) Jefferson, FL; extended family which he shared with Patricia Williams, Los Angeles, CA; his nieces and nephews, Dexter, Myla, Satorre, Christopher, Franklin, Jr., Norbert; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
