Carlotta A. Lewis entered into eternal rest on March 1, 2020 in Chattanooga, TN at the age of 71. She was born on April 7, 1948 in Palmetto, GA to Henry Arnold and Bessie Menefee. Carlotta graduated from Riverside High School in the Class of 1966. She attended Edmondson Junior College where she earned an Associate degree. She was of the Baptist faith. Carlotta was the Administrative Assistant and Office Manager for the Honorable Judge John W. McClarty for forty-two years. She first served in this capacity when he opened the first Black Law Firm in Chattanooga in recent years back in 1978. She continued working with him in the Law Firm of McClarty and Williams and later up to the date of her death with him as he served as the first Afro–American State Judge from East Tennessee with state wide jurisdiction. Carlotta was a person who enjoyed life and spending time with her family. She loved to travel, take cruises, shop and watch her favorite basketball team the Lakers. Her favorite musical groups were the Bee Gees, Pattie LaBelle and Michael Jackson and her favorite television show was “Judge Judy”. Carlotta always kept room in her life for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Lewis; parents, Henry Arnold and Bessie Menefee McGlockin; stepfather, Chester McGlockin; and sister, Vera Hudson. Those to cherish her many memories include her devoted daughter, Kimberly Harrison, Chattanooga, TN, two wonderful sons, Kevin   Lewis, Chattanooga, TN and Cary (Shannon) Lewis, Sr., Atlanta, GA; sister, Sweetie (Frank) Simmons, Chattanooga, TN; brother-in-law, Roy Lewis, Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law, Annie Lewis, Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren, Korey Lewis, Meagan Lewis, Carisha Upshaw, Jalesa Montgomery, Skylar Lewis, Kortney Lewis, Cary Lewis, Jr., Trey Lewis, Raven Lewis,  Aaliyah Parris, Keith Harrison, Jr., and Khiya Clopton; several great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews (Hudson Family), many extended family members; very dear colleagues, the Honorable Judge John W. McClarty and former Judge Walter Williams; dear friends, Vernell Mobley and Kathy Blakemore. Public viewing will begin at 12 noon Friday, March 6, 2020 at the funeral home.  A funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday, March 7 at John P. Franklin Funeral Home with Honorable Judge John W. McClarty, eulogist and Pastor Alonzo Noble, officiant. The interment will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 9, 2020 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.  Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
