MS. DEBRA MAE PARSONS

Debra Mae Parsons was born on March 22, 1959 to Clara Mae Parsons Tyson and the late Willie Parsons. She departed this life on February 24, 2020.

She grew up in Wadesboro NC and attended the public schools of Anson County.  Debra was a graduate of Bowman High School Class of 1977. During her high school years, she was a part of the track team. She was also involved with the school’s FFA Quartet group where her voice helped contribute to them winning numerous competitions and also granted them the opportunity to compete on the national level in Kansas City, Missouri.

She accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she and her brothers were a part of the choir.

She attended Barber Scotia College after high school and studied Business Administration. She later attended South Piedmont College and received her credentials in Early Childhood and became the owner and operator of Little Castle Daycare.

She joined New Parker’s Grove Baptist Church in 2007 where she served as Pastor Aide President and on the Choir. Debra was a dedicated and committed member even through her illness and until her death.

She was preceded in paradise by her grandmother, Hattie Mae Cole; father, Willie Parsons; son, Henry Thomas Clark; and her brother, Gilbert Parsons.

She leaves to cherish her memories with three daughters, Kamilah Perry (Minister Brandon Perry), Debra Ellerbe (Pastor Joshua Ellerbe Sr.) and Lexis Parsons; one son, Maurice Parsons; her mother, Clara Mae Parsons Tyson; fifteen grandchildren: Rassoul Parsons, Tiembra Hill, TerLinda Hill, Jacob Perry, Genesis Perry, Victoria Perry, Rashad Parsons, Jihiem Parsons, Josiah Ellerbe, Joy Ellerbe, Jireh Ellerbe, Johanna Ellerbe, Josie Ellerbe, Joshua Ellerbe Jr. and Marissa Parsons; three brothers, Willie Parsons Jr., Vernon Parsons and Aaron Parsons; a special god-sister, Christine Harrington.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.




The Homegoing Services were held on Friday, February 28, 2020, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Interment followed in Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
