Earlene Griffin, 69, of Chattanooga, was called home to rest on January 27, 2020.  She was the first born of six to the late Bryant Baker, Jr. and Rosa Mae Baker.  She grew up in Blowing Springs, GA and attended schools there.  After graduating school she married Willie Griffin, Jr. and they started a family. She worked hard raising her children and providing for her family.  She attended Chattanooga State Community College and became a cook.  All that knew her knew she enjoyed cooking and later became a cook for Little Miss Mag Childcare Center where her children had attended years before.  She was always overjoyed to go to work and cook for the kids as she had done for her own.  She always went beyond the call of duty to make sure her children had all their needs, got a good education, and knew the Lord.  She helped anyone and was loved by many.  She fought a long battle with breast cancer after her retirement from Little Miss Mag, through it all she never lost her faith in God.  She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Griffin, Sr.; father, Bryant Baker, Sr.; brother, Roland Baker; nephew, James Jones, Jr.; son in law, Michael Sneed, and many in laws. She leaves to cherish her memories three children, Willie Jr. (Greta) Griffin, of Athens, TN, Joanne Sneed, and Janell Griffin, of Chattanooga; mother, Rosa Mae Baker; grandchildren, Joshua Gaines, Joshilique Tyler, Joshon Tyler, Curtis Jackson, Jr., Nyia Jackson, Ryan Cox, Aaliyah Griffin; great grandchildren, Chance Gaines, Asani Johnson; sisters, Linda Sue Ramsey, Sharon (Willie) Mills of Michigan, Patsy Ann Baker, Maxine (James) Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Public viewing will begin at 12 pm Saturday, February 1 with the family receiving friends from 6 - 8 pm . A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 2 at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Interment: 10:00 am Monday, February 3, 2020 at Forest Hills Cemetery. Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
