Ernest Lee Spears, Jr., 67, of  602 Thurman Rd. died Friday, November 29, 2019 at his residence.

The funeral service is 9:00 AM, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Pilgrim Chapel M.B. Church 313 Elder St., James City Community of New Bern.   The interment will follow at the Meadows Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, Errol Spears, Hyattsville, MD, Earnest Spears, Bronx, NY, Ethan Spears, New Bern, NC; one stepson, Reginald Footman, Bronx, NY; one daughter, Monet Footman, District Heights, MD; two brothers, Justin Spears, New Bern and Arthur Smart, New Bern; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Ernest L Spears, you will be truly missed. I will always treasures our love cousin. I will carry on the legacy of Spellman - Foskey. You were the first grandson and I was the first granddaughter.     Ernest and I maintained phone contact over the years. last spoke with him on his birthday this past November. i was aware of his illness for some time. We always exchanged happy birthday wishes. when I did not hear from him on my brithday this February..tried calling and determined he was no longer with us. I am saddened by your loss, and you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Fondly, Linda
