MRS. BERNICE KNOTTS HORNE

Bernice Knotts Horne was born March 12, 1926 to the late Paul and Fennie Williams Knotts in Polkton, NC.  On Sunday, October 20, 2019, she fell asleep in death surrounded by some of her children, some of her nieces, other family members and friends.  She was ninety-three years of age.

Bernice was united in marriage to the late Fredrick Horne in 1944 until they divorced.  Bernice was the mother of nine children, whom she loved and cared for dearly.

Bernice joined the Brown Creek Baptist Church at an early age professed Jesus to be her Lord and Savior and remained a member until the Church was destroyed by fire.  Bernice was an active member of Savannah AME Zion Church in Lilesville, NC.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Knotts and Fennie Williams Knotts; one son, Richmond Knotts; two grandsons, James Horne Jr., Curtis Blount; three sisters, Rachel Alvina Little, Beatrice Ingram and Minnie Rorie; eight brothers, Clinton Knotts, William Knotts, Haywood Knotts, Frank Knotts, Houston Knotts, Paul Knotts, James Knotts and Thomas Knotts.

We who are left to honor and cherish her wonderful memories are her two sons, James (Carrie) Horne of Charlotte, NC and Lee Thomas (special person, Mary) Horne of Lilesville, NC; six daughters, Josephine White of Tucker, GA, Pauline Micheal of Polkton, NC, Patricia (Jerry) Harris of Lilesville, NC, Geneva Covington of Wadesboro, NC, Norma Jean Powell of Chester, SC and Heneretha (Mike) Scott of Albemarle, NC; two brothers, Fred (Betty) Knotts of Polkton, NC and Risdon Knotts of Charlotte, NC; 26 grandchildren and a total of 69 great grand and great, great, grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.


 The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, October 26, 2019, 12:00 noon, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Horne Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 11:30am-12:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
