Ramon “Ray’ Apodaca, 81, a longtime resident of Elephant Butte, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

Ramon was born in Santa Rita, NM to Pedro Antonio and Maria (Cardoza) Apodaca. He was one of 7 children. After graduating high school, Ray proudly joined the US Navy. He and his family moved to California, where he retired as a Supervisor from Pacific Telephone Company (AT&T). Ray was dedicated to all he did and accomplished much in his lifetime. He was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers, a 4th degree “Sir Knight” with the Knights of Columbus council #8281, a member of the American Legion, and a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was also the Fire Chief at the Lakeshore Fire Department. Ray enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and was especially fond of his yard work.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Louisa Apodaca; children- Richard “Rick” Apodaca and his wife Stephanie, and Louise Rohrer and her husband Bruce; grandchildren- Lyndsey Beets (Chris), Joshua Scott Apodaca (Rosi), Robert Dickerman, and Vanessa Apodaca; great grandchildren- Jeremiah Apodaca, Damien Apodaca, Joshua Apodaca and Dany Rea Beets; siblings- Ed Apodaca (LaVerne), Robert Apodaca (Delia), Gilbert Apodaca, and Mary Fisher; and sister-in-laws - Jackie Apodaca and Elvia Apodaca.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings- Antonio Apodaca and Ivan Apodaca; and in-laws - Robert Fisher and Pat Apodaca. 

Cremation has taken place and Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 with a Prayer Vigil at 9:30 A.M. and a Memorial Celebration Mass at 10:00 A.M. both at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Williams officiating. Mr. Apodaca will be laid to rest at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery following. 

Donations can be made in Ray's honor to the Knights of Columbus, Council #8182 ( 501 N Date St, Truth or Consequences, NM 87901)
