Mr. Joseph Stephon Bass was born to Mary James on July 25, 1967 in Queens, NY.  He was raised in Queens, NY and moved to St. Augustine, FL as a young man where he completed his education within the St. Johns County School District.  After high school, Joseph enlisted into the U.S. Army.  He was also known as a “jack of all trades,” but truck driving was his passion.  In 2016, Joseph started “J Bass Trucking & Transco Inc” based out of Jacksonville, FL. Joseph was known as a loving and caring person that gave his all to those he knew and loved abundantly.  He always placed everyone’s needs and wants above his own—a selfless servant with the heart and pride of a lion.  Joseph loved the Lord and leaned on the word to direct his path in life.

Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter Mercedes Yvette Bass, his grandmother Frances Hayes and his father Willie L. James.

Those left to cherish Joseph’s many memories are: his lifetime partner: Tonya Owens; his children: Porscha (Darcelyn) Kimbro, Mocha (Damarquis) Williams, Deborah Avinger; Tevin Gardner, Jameerica Paramore and Jailen Bass; two step-children: Marcus and Tecris Owens; four grandchildren: Mae’Kelle Jones, Paris Bass, Maya and Marlee Williams; his mother Mary (Willie) James; his siblings: Tammar Bradly, Rodney Bass, Erica Mack, Christopher (Lisa) Bass, Willie L. Jr. (Latasha) James, Erik James, and Latoshia Peguse, Aunts: Virginia Clark and Lily Finnie and a host of nieces/nephews, cousins and many close friends.
