MRS. CATHERINE BENNETT

Mrs. Catherine Douglas Bennett, was born to the late James Sanford and Rosa Richardson Douglas, on May 24, 1949.  She traded this earthly life for eternal life on September 8, 2019 at Autumn Care in Marshville, NC.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Streater Grove A.M.E. Zion Church; after marriage, she joined New Jerusalem Friendship Church of God where she attended faithfully until her health failed.  She was the Sunday School Secretary for more than 20 years, a member of the kitchen committee, and one of the “Mothers of the Church”.

She united in Holy Matrimony to the late James F. Bennett, in which five (5) sons were born.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Bennett, one (1) son, Larry S. Bennett; her parents, James Sanford and Rosa Richardson Douglas; one (1) brother, Johnnie Douglas; four (4) sisters, Rosa Wall, Glennie Bennett, Lizzie Douglas and Annie Murphy.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories five (5) sons, James F. Bennett (Gloria) of Lilesville, NC, Gary E. Bennett of the home, Stacy L. Bennett, Albert L. Bennett and Freddrick Ratliff all of Wadesboro, NC; a daughter-in-law, Shanta Bennett of Lilesville, NC; five (5) grandchildren and two (2) great-grandchildren; two (2) brothers, Charles Douglas (Betty) of Charlotte, NC and Robert Douglas (Leethel) of Rockingham, NC; two (2) sisters, Elizabeth Kilgo (Steve) of Lilesville, NC and Ruby Lilly (Melvin) of Wadesboro, NC; an aunt, Lillie Mae Wall; a sister-in-law, Grace Liles; special friends, Clara Mae Pratt and Frances Teal.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.




The Homegoing Services were held on Thursday, September 12. 2019, 3:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Burial 
 followed in Galilee AME Zion Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.
