Mrs. Susie Mae Kithcart (Robert) Grier, was born in Gastonia, NC on December 31, 1932 to the late Johnson and Ola Wells Kithcart.  She departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2019.  In addition to her late husband, she was preceded into eternity by her sisters Lucinda and Ruth Kithcart, Naomi  K Burris, Sarah K Wilson, Macel K Lewis and Elizabeth K Mobley.

Susie was known for her love of reading, sense of humor, honest character and her unfailing confidence in the Word of God.  Raised in a Christian home, Susie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a youth.  Susie was a member of the Mt. Calvary Church of the Apostles and Prophets in Gastonia at the time of her departure to heaven   Susie gave love generously and was loved generously in return.  Through good times, bad times, sickness and health her confidence in the Word of God kept her in perfect peace even as she drew her last breath. Susie’s guide was always the treasured word of God.  She loved reading the Bible.  She taught her children that the answers to life’s questions were found in the Bible.  Susie sang songs of Zion as she did her housework always worshipping God through the Holy Spirit within.  Susie Kithcart Grier’s fortitude, love, and certainty of the saving grace of Jesus Christ is the everlasting and precious heritage she has bequeathed to her children and her children’s children.

Susie K Grier leaves to reflect with thanksgiving and joy, her three sons: Robert D, David E. (Debra), and Kenneth W Grier, four daughters: Victorria Thompson, Jennifer Wright,    Mrs. Sheila (McArthur) Rance, Mrs. Susan (Donald) Richards; grandchildren: Tonya, Kenneth, Terrell, Victor, Jamal and Faith, as well as  eight great  grandchildren, special cousin Mrs. Mary Francis Threats,  nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and a loving extended church family in North Carolina, South Carolina and Rhode Island.

To God be ALL the glory! Mom rocked! She accepted Jesus Christ and His blood sacrifice for the total payment of her sin as a young person. "What can wash away my sin...nothing but the blood of Jesus, what can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus!" In leaving this earth, she is more alive now then ever before. Praise God, praise God, praise God!!!

I'm so thankful for example my mother has demonstrated throughout her life. Through trails, setbacks, failures, she always stood firm on the word of God. Her example has enabled me to stand in the face of adversity. Train a child in a way he should go and when he gets old, he won't depart. Rest in Peace Ma, much love.

I'm proud to have been my grandmother's first grandchild. My grandmother was the true example of a loving grandmother. She has truly been supportive of me and has also been a wonderful great grandmother to my two children. I will forever cherish her and love her. I will continue to strive and be strong in life by remembering the relationship she has with Christ and by me knowing that I will get to be with her again.

As a former son-in-law and the grandmother of my children, Tonya and Kenneth I consider Suzie as I always addressed her by name, a blessing and an honor to have known her in my lifetime. She always welcomed me into her home back when we all lived in Providence, RI. Her humorous and soft spoken manner always made me feel good to be around her. She had this uncanny ability to read people and tell what kind of person they are or may become. Truly a remarkable and kind woman. Glad I was able to see her two years ago in NC unfortunately for the last time on this earth but will see her again in Heaven!
