Jimmie Joe Earl, 80, a long-time resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away August 24, 2019 at the Chattanooga Hospice Care Center.  He was a faithful member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church for many years, where he served faithfully on the Trustee Board and Male Choir.   He maintained the church building until his health failed him.  He was know for his strong trust in the Lord.  He loved gospel music and the Spiritual Highlight Gospel Singers.  His favorite gospel song was “I Feel Good.” He was born October 18, 1938, in Fackler, Alabama to Lucille (Lou) Henry Earl and Mac Earl.  He was preceded in death by his loving parents, seven sisters, and six brothers; late sisters included Maestanda Earl, Mary Lou Timberlake Earl, Kathryn Earl, Loulian Earl Ware, Alice Earl Smith, Mayetta All, and Geneva Miller; late brothers, William (Dick) Earl, Hue Earl, David Grant Earl, Charley Earl, Fred Earl, and George Earl. He loved his family immensely, and the family was so fond of him as well.  Warm memories of Jimmie Joe’s kind spirit will always be cherished.   In July the family recognized and honored him at the 2019 Henry Family Reunion.  He was always involved with the family reunions, attended family meetings, and did everything he could for the success of the reunion. Jimmie Joe was a veteran and served in the United States Army.  He worked for many years at the Chattanooga Fishery and for John Phipps as a custodian. He enjoyed working in the garden every year and cutting grass for people. He leaves to treasure his memories: a loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Frances Maureen Earl; stepson, David Curington; two grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Thomas Curington and Jerome K. Curington; sisters-in-law, Rachel E.
