MR. LORENZA BYRD

In the evening hours of Thursday, August 22, 2019, Lorenza peacefully departed this earthly life after a brief illness at University Hospital, Charlotte, NC.

Lorenza Byrd was born October 24, 1950 in Anson County to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Juretha Byrd.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: James Thomas Byrd, Victoria Byrd Harper and Herman Byrd, Sr.

Lorenza was educated in the public schools of Anson County and graduated from Bowman Senior High School in 1968.  He worked at Wansona for over thirty (30) years and retired from the Anson County School System after working there for seven years.

In his younger years, he loved playing baseball and softball.  Lorenza confessed Christ at an early age and joined Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: two sons, Ken Byrd (AJ), Clayton, NC and Keith Byrd (Nicole), Charlotte, NC. Four grandchildren: Kennedy Byrd, Jackson Byrd, Skylar Byrd and Diamond Weeks Byrd.  His siblings, Clara Burch, Charlotte, NC, Joyce Byrd-Jackson (David) McLeansville, NC, Cornelia Green, Charlotte, NC, Vivian Hailey (Chris), Charlotte, NC, Clarence Byrd (Betty), Charlotte, NC, Donnell Byrd of the home, Alvin Byrd (Helena), Durham, NC and Steve Byrd, Charlotte, NC.  Life Long friend, Annie Taylor Byrd, Wadesboro, NC.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



The Homegoing Services were held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Interment followed in the Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 52 South, Morven, North Carolina.
