MR. PEARLIE EUGENE LITTLE

Brother Pearlie Eugene Little, a lifelong resident of Ansonville, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Anson Rehabilitation Center (formerly Lillie Bennett Nursing Home). He knew that his time here on earth was limited; yet, he lived his life determined and vibrantly. When man gave up on him, God stepped in and reminded man of who was really in charge.

He was born on April 21, 1920 to the parents of Berta and General Little.  He was reared in the area of Anson County referred to as the “plantation.” His father was a farmer and he was raised to appreciate “hard work.” He attended Anson County Schools while also working tirelessly in the fields to help his father.

Brother Pearlie served in the United States Army during WWII in Northern France, Ardennes, Germany, and Rhineland, West Germany. He was honorably discharged January 13, 1946, and received The Eamet Campaign Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.  In addition, Brother Pearlie was a member of Masonic Lodge 772. He served faithfully until his health declined. The highlight of his Masonic service was that he was blessed to serve as Grand Master.

He married the love of his life, Lillie Smith Little, on May 17, 1942. To this union, five children were born. Brother Pearlie was a devoted husband, son, father and church worker. He served in several capacities within the church, which included being Sunday School Superintendent, Senior Choir Member, Chairman of Trustee Board, etc. Brother Pearlie worked at Alcoa in Badin, NC, but spent the majority of his working career employed at Young Mfg. Company in Norwood, NC.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillie Smith Little; his parents, Berta and General Little; one sister, Callie Little; and one brother, Dallas Little.

With hearts grateful for his life and saddened by his passing, he leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Alexander Little Sr. (Eloise) of Ansonville, NC; Prentiss Little (Marianne) of Winston-Salem, NC; and three daughters, Minnie Knotts (Paul) of Wadesboro, NC;  Deborah L. Royal of Winston-Salem, NC; and Jacqueline Little of the home; one sister-in-law, Ada Tyson (Robert); one brother-in-law, Jessie Smith (Eleanor); twelve grandchildren, Latonya Knotts, Alexander Little, Jr., Lillie Lowery, Prentiss Little, Jr., Paul Knotts, Jr. (Krystal), Ronald Watkins, Jr., Cassandra Hall (Greg), Vonda Farrow (Gorran), Faith Royal-Paul (Charles), Virginia Royal-Harrison (Adolph), Sandra Royal, and Trumond Lee; thirty-nine great grandchildren – two of whom he called “HIS babies” Paisley and Chandler Paul, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.

Special thanks go out to Jacqueline Little, his youngest child, for the wonderful effort she put forth to care for our dad.

The Homegoing Services were held on Thursday, August 15, 2019, 2:00pm, Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, North Carolina. Burial followed in the Family Plot of the Church Cemetery.

The Little Family will greet family and friends on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 1:30-2:00pm at Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, North Carolina and at all other times at the residence.
