Cassie Lee Harris McLendon was born on February 15, 1937 in Anson County North Carolina to the late James and Naomi Harris.  She departed this life July 27, 2019 at Hospice of Union County, Monroe, North Carolina.

She was educated in Anson County Public Schools.

Cassie joined Cappadocia Church in Burnsville, North Carolina at an early age.  She later joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Peachland, North Carolina.  She served in many capacities in the church; President of the Usher Board for over 20 years, Deaconess, New Zion Women Auxiliary and Sunday School Teacher.

 She was united in Holy Matrimony to Bennie G. McLendon who preceded her in death.  One brother also preceded her in death, James Earnest Harris. 

Cassie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and an inspiration to her family, friends and her community.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sons, Garrett (Pandora) McLendon, Gaius (Shirlene) McLendon, one grandson, Marcus McLendon all of Peachland, North Carolina; one sister,  Helen Barrett of Marshville, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Nathaniel and Lisa Harris of Charlotte, North Carolina and Robert McLendon; two goddaughters, Reshonda Webber of Maryland and Taisha Lee of Marshville, North Carolina.  A Very Special and Best friend for many years, Mildred Burns of Peachland, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

The Services to celebrate the Homegoing of Mrs. McLendon were held on Monday, August 1, 2019, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Burial followed in Westview Memorial Park.
