MR. WILLIE EARL MARLOW SR.

Brother Willie E. “Bruiser” Marlow, fondly called “Joe,” was born February 25, 1954 in Southport, North Carolina to the late Austin J. Marlow and Mary P. Marlow.  While asleep, he transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. 

Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the Living Bread Ministries Transforming Life Church where he was an active member during his youth.  Educated in the public schools of Brunswick County, Joe attended Shallotte High School, Class of 1972.  In 1979, he married the love of his life and his best friend, Linda Denise Green Marlow.  Together they raised two talented and fun-loving children, Willie Earl Marlow, Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Latoya Denise Marlow of Charlotte, NC. 

Joe was a consistent provider for his family and worked at Nyack Hospital in Nyack NY and retired from Labor Union Local 369 in Trenton, NJ after 25 years of service as a Construction Laborer.  He enjoyed collecting die-cast cars, cooking, listening to old R&B and gospel music, and socializing with everyone in the community.  In 2004, Joe and Linda moved to Charlotte, NC.  They joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in 2008.  Joe and Linda connected to their passion for cooking, transforming the church Culinary Department.  They worked tirelessly to feed thousands of church members, friends, public servants, and the community.

Joe’s two brothers and sister proceeded him death: Austin Julius Marlow, Jr., Dianne Marlow Ward and  James A. “Tommy” Marlow (Jeanette).

To treasure his memory, Joe leaves his loving wife of 41 years, Linda; one son, Willie Earl Marlow, Jr.,  one daughter, Latoya Denise Marlow; father-in-law, Willie Green (late Emma Green); brothers John Marlow (Evelyn),William Marlow (Ann), Olland Marlow (Mary), Michael Marlow (Rachel); sisters, Gerotha Marlow, Leronia Bellamy, Edna Marlow, Carolyn McNeil (John), and Polly Livingston; brothers-in-law, Willie Green Jr., Kenneth Green (Pam), Keith Green, Daryl Green (Tasha) and sister-in-law, Cherri Green; special nieces whom he helped rear, Tamara Marlow, Treasia Marlow, Sucecilia Herring, Cherri Green, Jasmine Green; a host of nieces and nephews; Godmother, Sadie Davis; Goddaughter, Faith Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.



The Services to celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mr. Marlow, lovingly called "Joe" will be on Saturday, August 3, 2019, 1:00pm at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 381 Crestdale Drive, Matthews, North Carolina 28105.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The remains will lie in state and the Marlow Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 12:00-1:00pm at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
