Finnis L. Jones transitioned from this world to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 after a long illness. Born June 30, 1951 he was the son of James E. Jones and the late Dorothy Scruggs Jones.  He grew up in the North Chattanooga community and was a graduate of Riverside High School class of 1969, where he participated in Football and Track with a specialty in hurdling. He held the best hurdle time in the state of TN in 1969. He was also a member of the Links organization.

After High School, he briefly attended TN State University in Nashville. Finnis was also proud to be a loving father to his son and daughter-in-law, and grandfather to his grandchildren and great grand children. After a series of corporate jobs and Entertainment Businesses, Finnis found his passion in Entrepreneurship and started his own successful Pressure Washing Business, Capitol One Pressure Washing LLC. He had a love and passion for life, family, friends, faith and most especially GOLF! According to his cousin he was working on becoming a professional Golfer before his illness. In the early 90’s Finnis relocated to Durahm, NC. While there, he chose to walk the path of faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many outside of the faith refer to members as "Mormons."  Later in life he relocated to Atlanta, GA where he continued to serve in his faith. He was a very devoted member of the Church, devoutly studied the faith, was a missionary and a teacher. Over the years he was elevated to High Priest and participated in numerous church missions such as tornado and hurricane relief clean up, and served in the Church's Storehouse for the needy.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Dorothy Scruggs Jones and his Sister Lenice Jones. He is survived by his Father James E. Jones, Brother and Sister-In-Law Maurice Jones (Mildred), Sister and Brother-In-Law Susan Jones Dorsainville (Kamal), Son and Daughter-In-Law Darryl Alexander (Valerie), Grand Children Anthony (Sarah), Andrew (Kay), Frankie, Candace (Stacey), Alexis, Great Grand Children Mason, Alani, Carter, Acklin, Justice, Nellie, Sarai, Nieces Nicole, Allison, Ashley, Christal, Nephews, Michael, Avon, Special Cousins Albert, Gayle, Tam, Special Family Friend Tennie Lindsey, Close Friends/Brothers Michael Jones, Korlon Kilpatrick, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Family and Friends. We would like to pay special tribute and thanks to Finnis’ significant other and caregiver, Janice Gooden. She went above and beyond and took great care of Finnis during his illness. Thank you and we love you.

Mr. Jones will lie in state beginning at 9:00 am Saturday, July 20, 2019 and the family will receive friends at 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel.  Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

Finnis was a long-time friend and kind man. My condolences to the family, his "play-brothers" (Michael and Korlon) and friends. Sorry I could not come to offer support, other family obligations prevented me from being there. "Donnie"
