Willie Dockery departed his earthly life on Monday, July 8, 2019.  He was born on April 27, 1948 to the late Rena M. Miller and Ben Dockery.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Miller; sister, Tewanda Miller; two nephews, Tyree Miller and David Miller.

A veteran, he served in the Army and retired from the City of Charlotte, NC.  He was a member of Unity Lodge #85 of Charlotte, NC.

Willie affectionately known as “Doc,” loved children, working on cars, and shooting pool.  Once considered one of the greatest pool shooters on the East Coast, he was known as “One Pocket” because of his pool table shooting skills and playing the game called One Pocket.  Also known as “Nickel Will,” you could always find him at his pool room working the tables while grooving to the jukebox.  As an amateur HAM radio operator, he enjoyed having conversations on his cb radio from his home with fellow operators around the world!

Surviving to cherish his memories are his three sons, Willie Dockery of High Point, NC, Zachary (Monyette) Dockery of Atlanta, GA. and Carlos (Charlene) Hough of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Angela McGill of High Point, NC; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia (Pastor LJ) Tisdale, Gloria (James) McLean and Linda Miller all of High Point, NC; two brothers, Levander Miller and Jerome Miller both of High Point, NC; a friend, Roscoe Harvey, who was more like a brother; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Friendship Holiness Church, 820 Leonard Avenue, High Point, NC. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
