Obituary Send Flowers

On July 5th, 2019 at 6:00 a.m., Patrick Mayfield of Toccoa, Georgia finished his watch while in North Carolina, with family by his side.  He was born in Toccoa, Georgia to Azelle and Barbara (Gaines) Mayfield on September 9, 1966.  He married Lisa Butler in a ceremony in the park on September 1, 1990.  He was previously employed with the Toccoa Police Department and currently worked with the Habersham County Sheriffs Department as a School Resource Officer. While he was a Coach for many years and at many different levels both in the community and abroad, he currently worked as Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Habersham Central High School.  His infectious laugh and contagious smile was well known. His big heart was filled with generosity and kindness.  He was a gadget guy always wanting to show his toys to the kids, or awe them by turning his patrol lights on.  He made a deep and lasting impact on all who were privileged to share his path.

Patrick is survived by his wife Lisa Mayfield; two sons, Seddrick Mayfield and Devon Mayfield; and his two nearly perfect grandkids, Joaquin Mayfield and Kelaiah Mayfield; his Mother, Barbara Mayfield; and brothers Todd (Mechelle) Mayfield and Doug Mayfield.  Lovingly included are numerous Aunts, Uncle, and Cousins. Patrick is preceded in death by his Father, Azelle Mayfield.

Receiving of friends will be at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home on Friday, July 12th, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The service will be on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Habersham Central High School Auditorium. Interment will follow at Toccoa City Cemetery.  Feel free to express your condolences with flowers, or consider donating toys for kids for Christmas in honor and memory of Patrick.  His heart was extra big at Christmas! You may drop toys by the Habersham County Sheriffs Office to Miranda or Kelly from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participate in continuing the tradition of helping Patrick light up the faces of these children at Christmas!

I was shocked to learn of Patrick's passing. I worked with Patrick when he was with Toccoa P.D. and I was in the D.A.'s Office. He was always professional and a pleasure to work with on many cases. He will be missed greatly not only by his family and friends but the law enforcement family, also. Prayers for his family. Rest in Peace, my friend.

I have witness first hand what Mr. Patrick Mayfield as he worked with the youth. He can easily bring the smiles and ensure them that he has their best interest at heart. He was a gentle giant of a leader and his love for the game of baseball was his passion. He sought out those who possessed a natural talent for the game. He was instrumental in making so many believe in themselves as they achieve "most valuable player as a professional ranks". Patrick's motto is persistence and consistance equals success. Patrick you legacy is now coaching in the greatest field of dreams!

Coach was easily one of my favorite human beings! I worked at Habersham hospital and I saw a lot of him. He was NEVER without a smile. He gave me hard time and picked at me, but he did it with love. His "life lessons" will always be something that I will remember. It was my pleasure to be able to know Coach, he was one of a kind. Literally, there will NEVER be another person like him. All of my love, prayers and respect go out to the family, friends, students, and his brothers/sisters in Blue.

Towns County baseball had the deepest respect and fondness for Coach Mayfield. Having coached against him for years, his love for the game, his players, and youth in general was evident. He left an impression on me and no doubt on so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with the community and especially his family.

I had great respect and admiration for Patrick's passion for serving his community, particularly the younger generation. Even during difficulty, Patrick brought a smile and good cheer to every situation. From his work as an officer with Toccoa PD, through his role as an SRO for Habersham County and his athletic coaching, he endeavored to make a positive impact in the lives of those he met. Patrick will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rick Bridgeman Chief Assistant District Attorney (Retired) Mountain Judicial CIrcuit

I worked with Patrick at Toccoa PD many years ago, and from day one he treated me as though I had been there forever. We use to pick on each other. From his sweaters to his messy desk, down to rapping Dans' music.. we sure had a lot of laughs. I will miss seeing you out and about. I hope you are up there forming a team, and I have front row seats one day.. until then friend..
