Sylvester Johnson, Sr. 67, of 412 Queen St., Beaufort died July 2, 2019 in Beaufort, North Carolina
 
Friends and family may express condolences at the residence. Ritualistic services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star 6:00 PM, Monday, July 8, 2019 at Oscar's Memorial Chapel.

His funeral service is 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 10, 2019  at Mt. Zion M. B. Church 405 Cedar St., Beaufort.  The interment with military honors will follow at Oceanview Cemetery.

Sylvester served his country proudly  for 20+ years in the U. S. Army and was a faithful member  and Deacon at Mt. Zion M. B. Church. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Hero Lodge #248 Masonic Lodge, member and  Worthy Patron, Ruth Chapter #355 Order of Eastern Star and a Member of  the Olde Beaufort Farmers Market.  
 
He is survived by his wife, Louvetta "Kate" Stanley Johnson of the home; two sons, Sylvester Johnson, Jr., Durham, Reginald Kelly, Summerville, SC; two daughters, Lisa Washington, Goose Creek, SC and Angela Johnson, Durham, NC; four brothers, Thomas Johnson, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jerry Johnson, Beaufort, NC, Matthew Johnson, Havelock, NC and LeVerne Johnson, Beaufort, NC; two grandchildren.
