BROWN, Wilson age 86, of Atlanta, GA passed June 23, 2019.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Wilson Brown will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at First Iconium Baptist Church, 542 Moreland Avenue, SE Atlanta, GA 30316.  Pastor Timothy McDonald, officiating.  Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Viewing for Mr. Brown is Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at our chapel.

A Civil Rights Icon

A time to be Born….

Mr. Wilson Brown, affectionately known as ‘Diddy Bo’ by family members, was born on March 8, 1933 to the late Sidney and Queenie Brown. 

A time to Grow....

Wilson was educated at the Immaculate Catholic High School & graduated in June 1952.  He was drafted into the United States Army & served for 2 years during the conflict in Korea with the 8th Artillery Brigade.  After his service, he attended several technical schools in Jefferson County, earning certificates in Printing & Furniture Repair. Throughout his outstanding career, Wilson was deeply involved in the Civil Rights Movement starting in 1952.  Major experiences in Wilson’s life includes being jailed in Birmingham, Alabama with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., participating in the civil rights from Selma to Montgomery, being attacked with marchers over the bridge in Selma, Alabama, being the printer for the SCLC & his work with youths.

A Time to Die…….

Wilson departed this life on Sunday, June 23, 2019 to rest eternally.

A time to Mourn…

Wilson was preceded in death by his 1st wife Latha Brown.  He leaves to cherish his memories:  son, Jimmie Brown, Sr. (Kermela), Hampton, Georgia; daughter, Anita H. Jackson, Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; brother Sidney R. Brown (Jamila), Clarksville, TN; brother in law, Wilbur Clark (Deanna), Chicago, IL.; a special friend, Ms. Mattie Morris (thank you for all you did); many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and preceded in death by his sister Margaret Smoot.
