We know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven-God made, not handmade-and we’ll never have to relocate our tents again.  Sometimes we can hardly wait to move and so we cry out in frustration. We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing our true home.

Genesis1:1-In the beginning God created the heaven and earth.  God’s word in the very beginning makes us aware that we all belong to him.  He created us in his own image and gave us the choice to accept his only Son, Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.  Therefore, when we exchange time for eternity, we are guaranteed to live in everlasting peace and joy with him; free from all burdens of mortal life.

Sarah Hemphill Jones was born August 20, 1920 in McConnellsville, SC to Walter Hemphill and Miss Ora Crawford Jackson.  During her youth, she moved to Gastonia, NC where she started her education in the public school at Highland Jr. Sr. High School.  She worked in the textile industry for quite a few years.  She also worked domestically for a number of years.

She became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served faithfully and later moved her membership to New Canaan.

Sarah was married to Alaska Earl Jones, who was from Ladonia, TX.  From this union she was blessed with four wonderful kids: Walter Earl Jones (Chrystal), Willie James Jones (Debra), and Sherrol Yvonne Jones and Jimmy Costner Jones who is deceased.

Sarah who was known to many as “Big Ma” was the epitome of agape love, she gave unconditionally.  Her joyful and vibrant personality were infectious, and her smile would light up the place.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband: Alaska Earl Jones; her father: Walter Hemphill; her mother: Ora Crawford Jackson; her son: Jimmy Costner Jones; and her aunts: Ethel Armstrong and Hattie Webb Jones.  Sarah passed away on May 19, 2019 at 10:35.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons: Walter (Chrystal) Jones, and Willie (Debra) Jones; one daughter: Sherrol Jones; very special kinfolk: Perry (Cynthia) Mason; twelve grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
