Mr. Gary A. Settles, Sr., 56, of Elizabethtown, KY died on May 3, 2019 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Settles was a native of Memphis, TN and the son of the late Richard and Barbara J. Sawyers Phillips.  He was a graduate of Bolton High School.  Mr. Settles was Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown and with the Moore Sisters.  He served as minister of music at Meadowlawn Baptist Church, where he was a member, as well as several churches throughout Louisville and the surrounding vicinity.  Other affiliations included Michael Young & In God's Presence, Messengers for Christ, Bluegrass Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Ready for Praise, KingJennings Cancer Choir and musician for the annual Black History Musical.  

He is survived by his wife, Lacinder C. Miller Settles of Elizabethtown, KY; children, JoyAnn E. Settles of Elizabethtown, KY, Ka'Sandra Renee Settles of Bowling Green, KY,  Gary A. Settles, Jr., of Bowling Green, KY, and Andreal Joyrece Settles of Memphis, TN; one brother, Charles "Ricky" Williams of Elizabethtown, KY; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cornelia A. & Ward E. Miller of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Alisa C. Miller of Louisville, KY;  one aunt, Elder Nettie Lester of Indianapolis, IN; three grandsons, Anthony Jamarcus Settles of Memphis, TN, Gonas Allan Settles and Gesiah Austin Settles both of Bowling Green, KY; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown with Rev. Roderick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.  

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2019 also at First Baptist Church.
