Mrs. Dorothy Mary Frails Allen was born on July 13, 1930, in Augusta, Ga. to the late Zeroline Johnson Frails and Edmund Frails. She departed this life on April 26, 2019 at University Hospital.

Dot was educated in the Richmond County School System and graduated from Haines Normal Institute in 1949. After attending Paine College for one year, she married her sweetheart, Willie James Allen.

Determined to further her education, Dot later attended Augusta Technical College, and received an Associate's Degree in Nursing. It was her love and passion for helping others that led her to the nursing profession. She was employed by the old University Hospital (Lamar 3 Wing) for many years. She retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital after 28 years of service.

Dot was a faithful member of Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served in the Mission Ministry, Meals on Wheels Ministry, and the Chancel Choir. Dot loved people and touched the lives of many during the course of her life. She was kind, generous, and loving, and brought a lot of joy. She had a true servant's heart!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Allen in 2011.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory a devoted daughter, JoAnn Allen Cook; two grandchildren, Malcolm Kenyatta-Ali Cook and Jamellah Darlene Cook; five great grandchildren, Markell Hill, Imaiyah Cook, Rashad Cook, Khairi Cook, and Patrick Leaphart; and one great- great grandchild, Khalil Jefferson; one sister, Lee Eunice Norris; one brother, Edward (Betty) Frails; two godchildren, Carmen Brown Battle, and Frank Maddox, Jr.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially Georgia Kendrick, who she loved like a sister. Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
