REV. CARL L. SHORT

“This world, however beautiful, was never meant to be the place that we would call our home for all eternity.  And though we would not choose to leave, a loving God knows best, and in His time, He lifts us to a place of peace and rest.”

Rev. Carl L. Short was born in Chesterfield, South Carolina to the late Nathaniel Short and Arie Ratliff Short.  Rev. Short entered into eternal rest at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC on April 27, 2019.  He was a devoted family man who exemplified the light and love of Christ in every aspect of his life.

Carl was a humble, God-fearing servant who confessed Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and joined New Zion Baptist Church.  His faith was nurtured by many and he later started and pastored Jesus Is Lord Fellowship Church.  As his health declined, he faithfully attended Rock Springs Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Level Ambassador Outreach Ministries.

Carl attended the Chesterfield County Schools.  Along with Rev. Thomas Burch, he started S&B Building and Remodeling where he continued to work as a contractor throughout his life until retirement.

In 1971, he was united in holy matrimony to Ray Ann Burch, to this union five daughters were born.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sharon Elizabeth Jackson, two brothers, Roger and Eugene Short, and a sister, Betty Sue Short Wilson.

His precious memories shall forever live in the hearts of his wife, Ray Ann Short and daughters: Ann Bernice Short, Chesterfield, SC, Carla Renee (Wilson) Jackson, Charlotte, NC, Felicia Nicole (SGT Floyd) Little, Charlotte, NC, MSGT Keisha Short, Vacaville, CA, Karen Short, of the home.

Five grandchildren: Kierra Rivers, Rosalyn Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Diamond Little, Karl Thomas Little.

Three brothers: Nathaniel (Rosa) Short Jr., Silver Springs, MD, Richard C. Short, Atlanta, GA, Ross E. Short, Nashville, TN.  Three sisters: Dr. Roberta A. Bloomfield, Marietta, GA, Nezzie H. Short, Florence, SC, Evelyn D. Short, Cheraw, SC.  Two brothers-in-law, Rev. Thomas L. Burch, Ruby, SC and Rufus Wilson, Cheraw, SC.  Two sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Philbeck, Ruby, SC and Min. Stacey G. Short, Chesterfield, SC.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, caregivers, and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, May 4, 2019, 12:00 noon, Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, 72 Chestnut Street, Cheraw, South Carolina.  Burial will follow in the Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 393 Rock Spring Church Road, Ruby, South Carolina.

The Short Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 11:30am-12:00 pm at Pee Dee Union Baptist Church and all other times at the residence.

We can look forward to the day when there will be no more sickness and death. Revelation 21:4 says: "And he [God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." God cares for the brokenhearted; Psalm 34:18 assures us that he is close to them." Please accept my sincere condolences. Always remember God loves you and he cares for you! (Psalm 36:7; Psalm 147:3)

To the family and friends: please, accept our sincere condolences in your recent loss. May you find some comfort in the words of Psalms 34:18 which reads: " Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit " Yes, we can ask for help and rely on God. He also has made the sure promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise.  (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29). Be confident that this is SURE to happen because Isaiah 55:11 ensures us of this.
