Willie Oscar Nichols Jr, affectionately known to many as Junior Nichols, was born on March 4, 1947 in Lincoln County to the late Willie Oscar Sr. and Ruth Odom Nichols.  He departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

He graduated from Catawba County Schools and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. where he served his country in the Vietnam War.  He worked at Hoechst Celanese Corp/Sou-tex for many years before retirement. Willie attended New Saint Paul Holiness Church in Mount Holly, North Carolina where he served on the Men’s Ministry. He was great at fundraising, in fact, for many years he served faithfully as a committee member for the Nichols -Farley Reunion. There were many things he enjoyed doing like fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, watching sports and lending a helping hand. Junior was a caring person and always had a genuine concern for others. Those left to cherish precious memories and carry the torch are his loving wife of 46 years, Dilsey Thomas Nichols; four children, Stephanie (Robert) Harris, Veronica (Troy) Boyd, Cassandra L Nichols and Willie O Nichols III, “Trey”, all of Mount Holly, NC. Five grandchildren, Demetrius (Kiona) Edwards, Jay Boyd, Jocelyn Harris, MaKayla Boyd and Madison Mills. Please accept my sincere regrets for your loss. The bible does provide us with comfort and hope in times such as these. Revelation 21:4 says that God will wipe every tear from our eyes and death and pain will be no more.

Our condolences goes to you and yours in this most difficult time . May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 which reads: “Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God." What a loving God who cares about each one of us, and is ready to help us in 9ur m9st difficult moments if we allow him to. (John 5:14) He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
