Minister Mildred B. Brockington, affectionately known as "Piggy" was born on Friday,  February 19,1954 to Mrs. Edith Brooks-Woodley and the late Mr. Claude Woodley in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  She was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Willie Brockington.  Mrs. Brockington was an Outreach Minister, owner and operator of "Soup for the Soul" Ministry, and volunteered at Putnam Community Medical Center.

On April 23, 2019, Mrs. Brockington peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home to join her father, Mr. Claude Woodley; Her son, Michael Mercer and daughter, Tonya Mercer; Paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mildred Cowell Woodley; Brother, Mr. John Jones, and Sister, Mrs. Claudia Jones.

Mrs. Brockington leaves to cherish her memories: Husband - Willie Brockington; Daughter - Catherine O. Mercer (Ivan Bethel); Mother - Mrs. Edith Brooks-Woodley; Siblings - Lillian (Marvin) Bell, Sandra Hunt, Teresha (Johnny) Hardy, Joseph Lindsey, Willie Brooks, Jeanette Webb, Shelia (Washington) Bennette, Gwendolyn Jones, Reginald Jones, and Carl Linwood Jones. Grandchildren - Cierra (Ericka) Mercer, Akeem Mercer, Otis Mercer, LaDaza (Michael) Moore. Great Grandchildren - Ian Appling, Ianah Appling, Iiliah Mercer, Ivan Mercer, and Ke'Arie Childress.  Sister-In-Laws - Mary Brockington, Willie Mae Byrd, and Tony Brockington.  Special cousins -  Carrie Leonard and Patricia Mercer.  Special Friends - Cynthia Calloway, Claude Mercer, Vivan Wilson, Beulah Hall, Joyese Bellamy, and Elbert Grant. God-Daughter - LaShon Grant, and host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Local services are in the caring hands of Coleman's Mortuary Family.
The viewing will be held from 5:00pm - 6:00pm on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Bethel A.M.E of Palatka, Florida, Rev. James McGriff, Pastor.

Celebration of Life services will be held 2:30pm Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Bethel A.M.E.

Out of State services will be in the generous hands of Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremation Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Viewing will held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremation.

Homegoing service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2:00pm at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church Shawboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    To the family and friends: please, accept our sincere condolences in your recent loss. May you find some comfort in the words of Psalms 34:18 which reads: " Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit " Yes, we can ask for help and rely on God. He also has made the sure promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise.  (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29). Be confident that this is SURE to happen because Isaiah 55:11 ensures us of this.
