MRS. LORETTA HAMILTON HUNTLEY

Loretta Hamilton Huntley was born on Saturday, April 22, 1944, in Anson County, NC to the late Robert Ingram and the late Emma Lou Hamilton. Loretta was raised by her grandmother, the late Charity Hamilton.  She departed this earthly life on Monday, April 22, 2019 at home under Hospice Care.  She was a loving, caring and giving woman of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend. Loretta had an infectious spirit and laughter that would bring a smile to anyone within her presence.

Loretta married the love of her life Charlie Melvin Huntley on October 29, 1961 and was married for 57 years. To this union six children were born.  They worked together to ensure that their children always had their needs met and those around them as well.

Loretta was a member of Cross Roads A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served as church secretary.  She also served as secretary for the Wadesboro/Monroe District for many years, and served as secretary for the Layman Council.

Loretta attended the Anson County Public Schools.  She graduated from Wingate University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree.  Her passion for helping others influenced her job decisions.  Loretta served as a Guardian ad Litem and worked for Union County Community Action, as Parent Involvement/Volunteer Coordinator for years.  Loretta also worked for the Union County Public School System as a Social Worker.  After retiring, she became a Patient Advocate at First Care Medical.  Because of her love for travel, Loretta became the proud business owner of Mello’s Travel Agency.

Loretta was a member of several associations which included the National Head Start and N.C. Head Start Associations. She served on the N.C. Head Start Association Board, the Union County Board of Social Services and the DSS Departments of Anson and Union Counties.

She was preceded in death by three children: James Huntley, Deidre Huntley and Stephen Carl Huntley and two special aunts, Beatrice (Bea) H. Polk and Sara Raley.

Loretta leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 57 years, Charlie Melvin Huntley, Sr., two sons, Tony M. Huntley of the home and Charlie M. Huntley, Jr. (Claudia) of China Grove, NC; one daughter, Demetria Huntley of Monroe, NC: eleven grandchildren: Lorenzo Huntley (Jessica), Stephen Huntley, Jr. (Paris), Marquis Huntley, Rasheta Sledd (Carrie), Deshaun McClendon (Brandon), Joshua Coffey, KaMel Huntley, Trey Huntley, Quincy Huntley, Malik Huntley and Kuanzeek Garmon.  Seven great-grands.  Four brothers:  Robert Ingram (Margie), Archie Hamilton, Lanzy Hamilton (Catherine) and Robin Lockhart (Pastor Sharon).  Five sisters: Minister Lillie Ingram, Peggy Welch, Mildreth Bowman, Letha Ingram and Deloris Ingram.  Six sisters-in-law: Mae McFadden (Willie), Glenda Williams (Tony), Minister Phyllis Deese (Phillip), Edith Hailey (Robert), Lillie Huntley and Dwella Allen; one brother-in-law, Terry Huntley; four aunts; Dr. Mary K. Thomas, Joyce Wilson (Aaron), Arden Allen and Carolyn Thomas; one uncle, Carroll Thomas.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Special friends, Carolyn Thomas, Diane Polk and Lucy Bennett.

Although we have to go on and face a new day, Loretta, you will never be forgotten.  The sounds of your laughter, will echo in our ears, the legacy of your service will cover our paths, and the love you poured on all that came near, will warm our hearts until we meet again in glory.

The Services to celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Huntley were held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Interment followed in the family plot of Crossroads AME Zion Church, Marshville, North Carolina.

God will sustain you with his "right hand of righteousness" during this difficult time and through each passing day. Isaiah 41:10 says:..."I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness." Isaiah 41:13; I "am grasping your right hand, the One [God] saying to you,...'I will help you.'" Please accept my sincere condolences, Always remember God loves you and he cares for you! (Psalm 36:7; 1 Peter 5:7) She was a beautiful bride!!!

To the family and friends: please, accept our sincere condolences in your recent loss. May you find some comfort in the words of Psalms 34:18 which reads: " Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit " Yes, we can ask for help and rely on God. He also has made the sure promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise.Β  (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29). Be confident that this is SURE to happen because Isaiah 55:11 ensures us of this.Β
