With an abundance of sympathy, the S. Jones F. and C. announces to all that Mr. James Roger Norman, 82, of Enfield no longer answers to his name on this side. Known to some as "Cornbread", known to many as "Smiley", answered his Heavenly Father’s summons on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the nursing facility of Hunter Hill.

The family has reserved Friday, April 19, 2019, 6 pm - 8 pm for family and friends to come and pay their respects during a visitation that is to be held in the chapel of S. Jones Funerals and Cremations.

A Home Going Celebration to Celebrate His Life and Legacy will convene in the sanctuary of the Barnes Memorial Baptist Church, Whitakers, NC on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2 pm. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

    Family our hearts hurt as we learned of the passing of our beloved Deacon friend and a man of true inspiration. When we thought of the brilliant man he was I hurt turned into a smile for we know that he has gone to rest In the Arms of Jesus that he works so hard to achieve one day.     We extend our deepest condolences to the Norman family. Having known Mr. Norman from the time we were children, we can honestly say, no better friend can be found. His smile, his kind heart, his humor, his work ethics and his love for His Lord and ushering. James will truly be missed! Our children learned ushering from the best!     What a privilege to have known such a man as Mr. Norman. He always went out of his way to help folks as much as he could, without complaining, without grumbling.     To the family and friends: please, accept our sincere condolences in your recent loss. May you find some comfort in the words of Psalms 34:18 which reads: " Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit " Yes, we can ask for help and rely on God. He also has made the sure promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise.  (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29). Be confident that this is SURE to happen because Isaiah 55:11 ensures us of this.
