Mr. Pruitt Cathey, 72, was born on April 10, 1946 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late David and Ruth Cathey, Sr.  The Lord called him home on Sunday; March 24, 2019 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina where he transitioned to be with Jehovah our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Pruitt loved his family.  His wife was the love of his life for over fifty years.  Pruitt was a 1964 graduate of West Charlotte High School.  He served in the United States Army for three years and worked at Bowman Hollis MFG for thirty-two years until he retired.  He enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with his wife.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Gary L. Cathey.

He leaves to cherish life long memories to his devoted wife Laura of fifty years; two sons: Cadares Cathey (Willette) and Jacotra Cathey; four grandchildren: Latisha, Laura, Jalen and Jamel; two great grandchildren: Kennedi and Kingston all of Charlotte, North Carolina; his brother: David Cathey; his sisters: Barbara Jackson (Johnnie), Ethelene Moore (Robert) and Cheryl Edwards (Jack) all of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Bertha Gardin, Janet Hayes (Bill Ray) and Julia Burris all of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother-in-law: Charles Mitchell of Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
Memorial Service: Friday; March 29, 2019; 1:00 p.m.; Gregory Funeral Service Chapel-601 N. York Street, Gastonia

Visitation: one hour before the service at the chapel

    We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
