A homegoing celebration in honor of Mr. Joseph Anthony Perez Jr. will be held Tuesday at 11am at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kelvin E. Turner officiating. Joe passed away peacefully at Trumbull Memorial hospital on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.
Joe was born November 3, 1949 in Youngstown,  a son of Joseph and Pecolia Martin Perez. He was a graduate of The Rayen School and served in the United States Marine Corps. He later became gainfully employed at J & L Steel Corporation Campbell Works.  Joe was an active member in Tabernacle Baptist Church where he faithfully served on the recreation ministry and  hospitality committee. He attended sunday school  and sang in the male chorus. He was also the former van driver, served as a trustee and served on the finance committee.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Alfreda Pearson Perez whom he married August 27, 1972; his children, William Norris Jr. of Garfield Heights, Joseph W. Perez of Youngstown, Marian Perez of Columbus; seven grandchildren; a host of other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lolita Perez; and a grandson, Da’Mon Lamarquise Jackson.
Friends may call  Monday from 3pm-5pm at J.E. Washington Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10-11am at the church. Interment will be in Tod Homestead Cemetery.

    Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
