The Patriarch of the Wilburn family, Mr. Elmer Charles Wilburn, Jr., entered into rest Thursday, February 14, 2019. 

He was a native of Augusta, GA. He served as Staff Sergeant in the US Airforce and retired after 20 1/2 years. 

He is survived by three sisters, Mary W. Henley(Clifford Henley), Shirley W. Key, Jane W. Sapp(Hubert Sapp); five children, Patricia Wilburn, Charlean W. McKenzie, Elmer Bennefield, Sharron Wilburn, Christopher Wilburn; seven grandchildren, Charles R. Wilburn, Rosa B. McKenzie, Khadijah Wilburn, Alexis McKenzie, R'Keyah Evans, KeTurah Wilburn, Jordan Bennefield; three great grandchildren, Jayden McKenzie, MyKell Crawford, Laylah Cook; longtime partner Shirley Elam; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved community.

A private burial will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Beaufort National Cemetery, in Beaufort, SC.

    To the family and friends: please, accept our heartfelt sympathy in your recent loss.  May you find strength and comfort from the words of  Nahum 1:7 Which reads: “Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of distress. He is mindful of those seeking refuge in him.” Yes, our loving God is there for us if we allow him to help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die.  He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise  (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
