Robert Livingston Keith, 71, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away January 18, 2019 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. He was born February 10, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, the son of the late Johnny and Viola Keith. He was the oldest of 7 siblings. 

He served in the U.S. Army, deploying to the Vietnam War with the 1st Cavalry Division, where he received 2 Purple Hearts. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg NC as a Drill Sergeant. He then became a Recruiter, serving at Ft. McPherson, GA, and the Roswell, GA area, before finally retiring in September of 1987 from the Ft. Jackson MEPS, in Columbia, SC after 21 years of service. After retiring, he was employed by United States Postal Service in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Keith was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Tya Keith, of Columbia, SC, his son and daughter-in-law, Terrence and Tammy Keith, of Newport News, VA and daughter Danuelle Borum of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; Jewel and Jasmine Blackwell, Christian, Jenae and Jhia Keith, all of Newport News, Virginia and Cameron Borum of Columbia, SC, and one great grandchild, Diamond Moon, of Newport News, Virginia. He is also survived by his nieces Sonya, Carla and Rhonda Alexander. Mr. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and other siblings.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta, GA, Reverend Sheldon Cooper, pastor. Interment will take place at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.

    We're sorry to hear about your recent loss. Accept our sincere condolences. May you find strength from the words of Philippians 4:13 which says: "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
