Edward James, 97, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Big Bend Hospice.
Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Tallahassee Memory Gardens, 4037 N. Monroe Street.
Edward was born February 29, 1921 to Tony James, Sr. and Elnora. Edward grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and was a WWII Army veteran stationed in the Philippines. Later, upon relocating to New Jersey, Edward was employed with The United States Postal Service for 39 years, retiring as Superintendent of Motor Vehicle Services. Edward returned home to Tallahassee in 1987. He was a loyal and devoted member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
To cherish his memories, he leaves sons, Edward James, Jr., Edward Todd (Beverly); a nephew he raised as a son, Kenneth Ellerbee, and his companion Martha King; sister, Elnora Badger (Robert) and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Estelle Brown James, and his daughter, Juanita James who was the joy of his heart, as he spent many years caring for her.

    We're sorry to hear about your recent loss. Accept our sincere condolences. May you find strength from the words of Philippians 4:13 which says: "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
