Ms Edna Lockard, affectionately known as “Ma” and “Grammy,” went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born in South Carolina to the late Clyde and Lessie Walker. 

Edna was one of eleven children, she grew up with seven sisters: Virginia, Bea, Ollie Mae, Lillian, Dorothy, Norma and Emma and three brothers: Calvin, Frank and Billy. In 1948 Edna gave birth to her first born son Bobby R. Murray. She later married Charles Lockard and from this union they had seven children: Connie, Geraldine, Selena, Edith, Denise, Troy and Michael. 

Edna proudly worshiped and served as a longtime member at her family church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located in South Carolina for many many years.  She also worked and studied hard in order to gain her CNA certificate and proudly served as a CNA employee for the Hill Haven Facility located in Gastonia, NC. Edna loved her Job and always enjoyed helping other people. Another important role in Edna’s life was being a mother and grandmother, she was the matriarch of the family. She always maintained an open door for everyone and will leave a legacy of perseverance and love for all.

She leaves to cherish in precious memory her three sisters: Lillian, Norma, and Emma and her brother Billy, seven of eight children:  Bobby (wife: Tommie Lee), Connie, Geraldine, Selena, Denise, Troy and Michael (wife: Gardenia); twelve grandchildren:  Selissa, Shanan (husband: Fredrick), Sania, Trinette, Craig, Teih, Thomas J., Ashley, Jimmy (Tre’), Destinee, Ebony and Haley. She had fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
 
Funeral: Saturday; January 5, 2019; 2:00 p.m.;Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church-1875 Ridge Road., Clover, South Carolina 

Visitation: one hour before the service at the church

Interment: Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery, Clover
