Ms. Lois Annette Vickers,82,Gadsden, died on December 6, 2018.

She is survived by her loving family.

Burial  Lincoln Hills Cemetery West Gadsden Funeral Home, Inc. Directing Mrs. Lois A. Vickers was born September 9, 1936 to the late Mrs. Annie Leo Smith and Mr. Richard Wise in Attalla, AL.

Lois confessed Christ at an early age as her personal Lord and Savior. She was a faithful and devoted member of Handy Chapel A.M.E Church, where she served as a Stewardess, Choir Member, on the Pastor’s Aid Board and Sunday School Secretary. Lois graduated from Carver High School in 1954, where she was Homecoming Queen in 1953 and part of Future Teachers of America. She later in life took on the role of Substitute Teaching at L.V Johnson School.

She was well known for her cooking. She worked in the cafeteria at the Republic Steel Plant, she was also a head cook at other businesses. Her recreation was Bingo. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Malvis Lewis, brother, D’Wayne Wise, grandsons, Corey Dupree and Donavon Harris. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: Eight children, Anthony Vickers, Reverend Carey Vickers of Gadsden, Al., Steven (Pamela) Vickers, of Fort Payne, Al., Preston Vickers of Lincoln, Al., Cassandra Vickers (Clarence Tatum), Sabrina Reid (Dewayne Huff) of Gadsden, Al., and Cedric Reid of Birmingham, Al. Special daughter/granddaughter, SumikaVickers. Special great-granddaughter, Aja Ransaw. Special great-grandson, Jace Wilson.

Special friend and father to her children, Mr. Jimmie Reid Jr. of Gadsden, Al. Special cousin/brother, Bernard Corbin. Four sisters: Gail Goode, Elnora Hughler and Michelle Hall, all of Cleveland, OH, Peggie Jones of Cincinnati, OH. Eight brothers: Robert Wise, Larry Wise, Richard Wise Jr., James Robertson, Dwight Wise, David Hall, Victor Parks and Gary Wise, all of Cincinnati, OH. Two Aunts: Mrs. Frances Barton of Acwortha GA and Mrs. Savannah Benson of Union, GA. Fourteen Grandchildren: Sheray Bell, Brodrick King, Bernadette Johnson, Cherell Vickers, Carey Vickers Jr., Steven Gaddis, Shundrika (Errin) Clark, Takisha (Ben) Payne, Denae Vickers, Devora (Geffery) Owens, Braxton Vickers, Donika Harris, Demetrius Jelks Jr. and JamahlJelks. 28 great-grandchildren. Two known Nephews: Preston Williams of Montgomery, AL. and Daryl (Duska) Lewis of Jacksonville, AL. and one known niece, Carol Lewis. Special daughter, Sharon Vickers. Two special sons: Donald Harris Sr. and Lee Collins. Special friend of the family: Mary Ragland. Special friend/sister: Mrs. Inez Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends.

    We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
