Funeral services for Mr. James Willie "Sonny" Davis, 79, will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. James Willie “Sonny” Davis was born on May 29, 1939 to Willie Davis and Mary Alice Swain Davis in Talladega, Alabama.

Sonny, as he was known by everyone, became a member of Jacobs Chapel C. M. E. Church at an early age. He received his education in the Talladega City School graduating from Westside High School. After completing his education, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon returning to Talladega, he was a supervisor at Newberry Foundry and retired from Wehadkee Yarn Mill. On September 20, 1960, James and the former Geraldine Fuller united in holy matrimony and to the union two children were born.

On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, Mr. Davis was called to his eternal home. He was welcomed home by his parents, Willie and Mary Alice Davis; a grandson, Nicolas Cook; and a brother, Ed Walter Davis.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 58 years, Geraldine Davis of Talladega, Alabama; two children, Sonya (Darrell) Cook of Oxford, Alabama and James Lamar Davis of Lexington, Kentucky; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Fountain of Buffalo, New York and Regina Swain of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Charles (Gwendolyn) Davis of Childersburg, Alabama and David Gaddis of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    My sincerest condolences to "Jeri" and the Davis and Fuller families. I was saddened to learn of the passing of Sonny Davis. I will always remember his quiet and winning personality and his willingness to be helpful to anyone in need. He was held up as a role model for all of us who knew him. May he rest in much deserved peace. Amen.
