Mr. Willie Albert Blount of Atlanta passed Thursday November 8, 2018.  Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday November 15, 2018 at Lincoln Cemetery Chapel.  Haugabrooks Funeral Home 404 522 8217

On August 4, 1929, on a hot summer day, 85 degrees to be exact, Willie “Billy” Albert Blount was born as a “Grady Baby” to the late Edmond and Otha Ray Sloan Blount. To his family and close friends, he was affectionately known as “Billy”.

He was reared on Peters Street before his family relocated to the Westside of Atlanta in the Hunter Hills Community. Billy graduated from Booker T. Washington High School of Atlanta, Georgia in 1946.

After graduating, he married Annie Elizabeth Coppage and from this union, three beautiful daughters were born: Cassandra Ann, Edwina LaFrances and Vita Gail.

Billy secured a job with Lockheed Martin and was a dedicated employee who went to work faithfully. His routine was to get up early in the morning, make the commute to Marietta daily until he retired in 1992.

After retirement, he remained involved with Lockheed by participating in the monthly retirees’ breakfast and annual family day picnic.

In later years, Billy and his companion, Ms. Gloria Brayboy, had a small group of friends and family who they entertained on weekends and each Christmas Eve.

As he aged, Billy had multiple surgeries on his hip and knees, however, this never stopped his attendance and driving to significant events for he remained in good health. He would attend high school graduations, college commencements and Grandparents’ Day of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Willie A. Blount was a member of Hunter Hill First Baptist Church. When his grandchildren were of school age, he ensured that they attend Vacation Bible School at Hunter Hill. On a regular basis, he attended church until recently, he became the primary caregiver for Ms. Gloria.

Those left to cherish his memory are devoted daughters: Cassandra, Edwina and Vita; three grandchildren: Fait Leron, Jeffrey Jermaine and Dionne Elizabeth; niece, Nancy Drucilla; great-nephew, Acheze’ Brevard; great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Alaysha, Jordyn, Jermaine, Jaylen, Jala, Douglas, Riley, Tyler and Grayson; his longtime companion, Ms. Gloria Brayboy; numerous cousins of the Sloan and Blount families.
Billy was preceded in death by his only sibling, Edna Mae Blount Smith.

I wanted to send my love and condolences to the Blount family. I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death is a devastating experience that leaves us with feelings of sorrow and grief. However, know that God is going to replace your sadness with joy and a hope for the future. How? Isaiah 25:8 says, "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe the tears from all faces." So here Jehovah God has promised that He will eliminate death forever, wiping away the tears that come from losing the ones we love. Furthermore, God has given us the hope of the resurrection, which can mean being reunited with our dear loved ones, once again on a Paradise earth. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4) If you would like more Bible-based information about the resurrection hope, please visit our website at jw.org.

To family and friends my deepest sympathies to you for the loss of your love one. Losing a loved one in death is very painful. Almighty God Jehovah (Psalms 83:18) promise that he will resurrect millions of people who have died. "And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Isaiah 26:19 "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous." These are the words of Jesus Christ at John 5:28,29. Learn more about the resurrection hope and how Jesus is going to make God's wonderful promises come true at jw.org. May the God of all comfort and tender mercies sustain you at this difficult time. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4
