Mrs. Virginia Pitt Swopes was born on March 9, 1963, in Wheeler Alabama.  She was affectionately called “Pam” by her family and friends. She attended West Morgan High School in Trinity, Alabama.  She was a faithful member of Greater Love and Christ Ministries. Among those who preceded her in death included her husband, William Louis Swopes; son, William O’Neal Swopes; father, Willie Lee Key. Virginia departed this life on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Hospice Care Center. Survivors include her children, Mercedes (Jamie) Johnson, Joseph Cowing, Pernell (Tiffany) Key; mother, Anner Jane Thorne; grandchildren, Pernell Key II, Pernell Key III, Jamize Johnson, Zy’Nell, Zyriyah, JarQuell Key, all of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Eddie Thorne of Town Creek, AL, and Rydale Key of Decatur, AL; sisters, Delois Key, Courtland, AL and Mary Jane Key, Chattanooga, TN; uncles, Jimmy Thorne and James Thomas Thorne of Courtland, AL; aunts, Emma Mae, Emma Jean and Irene Thorne, Courtland, AL and Mary Townsend, Chattanooga, TN, a host of other relatives and friends. The body will lie in state after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 7 pm – 8 pm at the funeral home on Friday, November 9, 2018.   A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 10th in the chapel of John P.
