Mrs. Virginia Pitt Swopes was born on March 9, 1963, in Wheeler Alabama.  She was affectionately called “Pam” by her family and friends. She attended West Morgan High School in Trinity, Alabama.  She was a faithful member of Greater Love and Christ Ministries. Among those who preceded her in death included her husband, William Louis Swopes; son, William O’Neal Swopes; father, Willie Lee Key. Virginia departed this life on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Hospice Care Center. Survivors include her children, Mercedes (Jamie) Johnson, Joseph Cowing, Pernell (Tiffany) Key; mother, Anner Jane Thorne; grandchildren, Pernell Key II, Pernell Key III, Jamize Johnson, Zy’Nell, Zyriyah, JarQuell Key, all of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Eddie Thorne of Town Creek, AL, and Rydale Key of Decatur, AL; sisters, Delois Key, Courtland, AL and Mary Jane Key, Chattanooga, TN; uncles, Jimmy Thorne and James Thomas Thorne of Courtland, AL; aunts, Emma Mae, Emma Jean and Irene Thorne, Courtland, AL and Mary Townsend, Chattanooga, TN, a host of other relatives and friends. The body will lie in state after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 7 pm – 8 pm at the funeral home on Friday, November 9, 2018.   A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 10th in the chapel of John P.     Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
