Charles Lee Davis, affectionately known as "Scarback," departed this life on October 9, 2018 at his home.  He was born in Gaston County, NC to Julius and Janie R. Davis on May 19, 1937.

He attended Reid High in Belmont, NC and served in the United States Navy.  He retired from the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD before returning home to Belmont, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Brenda Pettis Davis, and his sisters: Elwillie Wilson and Myra Davis.

Charles four beautiful daughters: Casandra Lane (Perry) of Belmont, NC, Melissa Harris of Atlanta, GA, Raietta Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA and Petryne Stanford of Norfolk VA.  He is also survived by his honorary children: Thomas Jones (Lucille) of Centerville, VA, Adrian Jones of Savannah, GA, Richard Jones (Melanie) of Indian Trial, NC and Carolyn Chandler of Upper Marlboro, MD and a host of grand and great grandchildren.  He was especially close to those that grew up nearby, granddaughter: Errol Chin of Belmont, NC; granddaughter Kasetta Davis of Atlanta, GA, grandson David Davis of Atlanta, GA; great grandsons Jaedon Chin and Javar Williams of Clearwater, Fl, David Charles Davis, Jr., Kim Shay Dalton, Gabrielle Dalton of Atlanta, FA; granddaughter: Yvette Johnson (Belvonno) of Norfolk, VA, grandson: Larry Lyons (Crystal), of Virginia Beach, VA; grandson:Lamar Veale of Norfolk, Va, granddaughter: Jeana Veal of Norfolk, VA, Lisa Snowden (Roman) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandson: Jonathan Overton and special great grandsons: Derrick Green of Richmond, VA, Paul Snowden of Virginia Beach, Va and great granddaughter: Jade Overton; brothrs: Julius Davis, Jr of Belmont, NC, Lonnie Davis (Valerie) of Fayetteville, NC and Roy Davis (Deborah) of Mount Holly, NC; one sister: Lillian Caldwell (Kenneth) of Camp Springs, MD and several special nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends nearby and faraway.

Funeral: Saturday; October 13, 2018; 2:00 p.m.; Mount Moriah Baptist Church-111 Lincoln Street, Belmont

Visitation: one hour before the service at the church
