Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,

HIS ARRIVAL

Mr. Jerome Zellner (affectionately known as Rome) was born on September 16, 1958 in Lamar County, GA to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Lizzie Mae Zellner-Williams. He fought the fight, won the victory, but his struggle ended; and he succumbed to his illness on October 2, 2018. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Mae and Betsy Pearl, and a brother, Jimmy.

HIS EDUCATION AND CAREER

Jerome attended and graduated from Lamar County Comprehensive High School in 1976. Soon after graduating, he decided he wanted to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He dutifully served in the Army for 9 years. When he returned home, he worked various occupations until he became gainfully employed with Aldora Mills/ General Tires. He worked there for 22 years and received several awards until his health failed.

HIS FAITH

Jerome joined Sandhill CME Church at a very early age. After moving back to Barnesville, he served diligently and faithfully as the Chairman of the Steward Board for many years. Jerome was saved and sanctified, and he had a special love for Sandhill.

HIS FAMILY

Jerome leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gloria J. Zellner of Barnesville, GA; a daughter, Regina Zellner of Charleston, SC; a son, Rashad Zellner of Columbia, SC; three stepsons, Charles (Tammy) Eleby, Courtney Adams and Warren Barkley of Barnesville, GA; six sisters, Luellen Pounds of Macon, GA, Hattie Louise White of Barnesville, GA, Mattie Mae (Wylie) Jones of East Point, GA, Catherine (William) Parker of Barnesville, GA, Carolyn Williams of Riverdale, GA, and Rona (Thomas) Reeves of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Oscar (Earnestine) Zellner of Griffin,GA, and Charlie James Zellner of McDonough, GA; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Wilson and Marcia Elleby of Barnesville, GA; a brother-in-law, WT (Lucille) Elleby of Barnesville, GA; two aunts, Martha Fletcher of East Point, GA and Lucille Ransom of Seaside, CA; one uncle, JC Fletcher of East Point, GA eight grandchildren and sixteen step-grandchildren; devoted friends, Jimmy Thruman, Lee Collier, Willie F. Green, and Dorothy Traylor of Barnesville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Funeral Service was held

Saturday, October 6, 2018

1:00 P.M.

West Mount Sinai Baptist Church

Interment  Greenwood Cemetery

    Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
