Douglas  Smith Geiger Sr. is a man after God’s own heart. His never ending faith and belief that, If God said it then we should believe it,’ is and example to all who knew him.

Douglas was born to E.O Geiger and Hattie C. Smith Geiger on June 13, 1942 in Piedmont, GA. He  is one of ten children  produced from this union. He received his education from the Lamar County School System. He became the captain of the defense on the football team. Douglas graduated from the Booker High School in 1961.

In 1963, Douglas Geiger married Rebecca Harris, the mother of his eight children.

Douglas began his career in the textile field, working at Carter’s and Bibb Mills. He was foreman on the job. He soon became an entrepreneur in the fields of lumberjack and construction. After many years in construction, Douglas along with his sons, established Geiger Services in 1963 and continued to build and develop establishments for many years.

Douglas Geiger was a leader in the Civil Rights movement in Barnesville, Georgia. He assisted in organizing marches and protest that led to the better rights for African Americans in Barnesville.

Douglas received Jesus Christ as his Personal Lord and Savior in 1968, thus beginning his Christian journey under the leadership of Pastor Lee Andrew  Wrights in Thomaston, Georgia. He has helped various tent services and crusades throughout the years. Douglas preached salvation, deliverance and healing. He spent numerous hours lying before God on behalf of the people. Douglas has had various churches throughout  Griffin, however. The Truth and Life Ministries was established and continues to operate.

Douglas wed Dora Goodrum July 13,1992 and continued his ministry until his health failed.  Douglas Geiger transitioned on September 29, 2018, leaving his ministry to be carried on by those who knew and loved him


 

Douglas Geiger is survived by wife Dora Geiger, children, Douglas L. Geiger Sr. (Dionne) James C. Geiger, Stephanie M. Geiger, Bobby C . Geiger (Lakeitha) Dephanie B. Hiley, Melissa L. Higgins (Terry) Bridget E. Mack (James), Stephen P. Geiger, sisters, Betty A. Frazier, Toni Geiger,  Barbara Dunnaway (Rudell,) brothers Leo Geiger (Liz) Chesso Geiger, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Service was held
